The main appeal, of course, of free anti-virus software, is that it’s free. In fact, its actually less of a hassle compared to paid anti-virus programs because you don’t need to bother with activation or serial numbers or expiry dates – you simply download the free software, install it, and then run it. And in most cases, the updates are free and regular so you don’t need to worry about having an outdated virus definition list.

The only disadvantage though, of freeware, is that paid platforms have more features and offer increased safeguards for your protection. But if you are careful, the freeware can give you adequate protection.
